Spring Break = Washington, DC

*WARNING* Ton of pictures. I took over 700 pictures- it's taken me a week to go through them. I've blogged this page for myself as much as I have for family/friends. I will scrapbook an album, but who knows when that will happen. So this will help me to remember. We have now been home for a week from our spring break trip to Washington, DC. It was a very nice trip. This is the motel that we stayed in. DOWNTOWN Washington, DC. A Holiday Inn Express. Room was about $200 a night. That was the SPECIAL!
We flew from Memphis to Atlanta. Atlanta to DC..coming home it was a straight flight from DC to Memphis. ALOT cheaper for us to fly out of Memphis than Little Rock.
Jacob took this picture coming home. Boys fought over window seat. Michael had it going, Jacob had it coming home.
Don't ya just wanna float on 'em?
Jacob going through security. That was an experience.
Rog and Jacob watching them get the plane ready.
Our plane.
I have a love/hate relationship with flying. I'll do it...but not my favorite mode of transportation.
Granny and Jacob.
We flew into Ronald Reagan. This is the airport where the air traffic controller guy fell asleep!! Seriously!? We were already in DC when it happened, but still had to fly back out. I can pick em!
The Cherry Blossom festival is this week. It's the peek week for the trees. This is what they looked like when we got to DC at the start of the week.
This is how much they bloomed within 4 days. They were so pretty. I know we didn't see peak, but I've always wanted to see the "Cherry Blossoms"- I think I got a pretty good taste.

WASHINGTON MONUMENT PICTURES:

Picture taken from inside Washington Monument. The reflecting pool didn't have any water in it...they were doing some repair work.
Getting ready to ride the elevator to the top.
Saw the White House from the Washington Monument.

You can rent this room for $40,000 to have a wedding reception or party. Yeah right!

These guys spent alot of time in the Holocaust Museum..my least favorite. So sad.

Michael, Mom, and I went to DC about 11 years ago. A major change in security has taken place since we went in 1999. So glad that we did this as a family and that Jacob and Roger got to expereince it. By no means...is this a "relaxing" trip. Educational is the word. It has taken me over three hours to load these pictures and do this post. I could get use to going somewhere during spring break every year!

  1. Loved this LONG post! We went to DC a couple years ago (me and the boys and two girlfriends - ha!)... absolutely loved it. We did about everything y'all did. We have been talking lately about how we want to go back. We loved it!!

We LOVE the Monuments by Moonlight tour, Mount Vernon, and Arlington Cemetery (all I could think about at the Tomb of the Unknowns is about being a mother to one of the fallen. What respect they show... I was so moved!
