Lego Farewell

Anyone that knows us...knows that my boys (two sons and husband) have been involved with First Lego League for several years...since 2002-2005 for Michael. (Jacob 2007-2009)
Michael's team..THE CLEAN UP CREW...won many tournaments and accomplished many many awards. Tonight we honored the 7 original team members. The kids had money in an account that was earned from fund raisers and we decided to divide the money that was left to the kids. So tonight we had dinner at El Chico's, Roger put together video from tournaments over the years and the highlights, and we all reminiced about the great times that we have had with the group. The kids had NO idea that they were receiving money..they were all touched, and each kid hugged the coaches and thanked them. 2002-2005 was an amazing time for us with the group..and all of the kids are still close today. It was so bittersweet tonight.
Michael and Roger
Had a cake made (it was DELICIOUS) that had each childs picture on it...each kid ate their own piece!

Fried ice cream!

Jacob with his fried ice cream! WHO knew? He said it was good.
*Michael has spent the last two nights NOT at home. He has spent the night at friends. Breaking me in for the next couple of weeks!
*Attended a funeral for a young man who had muscular dystrophy. Please pray for this family.

Weekend..

We had the usual Friday night baseball at Bakersfield, MO. Only a couple more Friday nights left to play. We love our baseball...well we love ALL sports! We had a very exciting night. Lost our first baseball game. BUT we won our second game! We beat the team one point...and what is so awesome is we played that team last Friday night and they beat us (can't believe I am going to post the score) 15-2!!! That is bad! The team had not lost any games until we beat them. PUMPED up...yes we were. AND Jacob's brother came to watch him play. As well as two of the other older brothers. So the smaller boys were thrilled that there brothers we there to watch them! Jacob also had TWO homeruns in the last game. He played pitcher (didn't do too hot) and 1st and 2nd base.
Saturday: It was a yucky day, so NO lake day. We are doing some home improvements on our house. We are all over the place. Roger is putting up siding. Of course, he does NOT have a lot of free time, so it is moving slow, but that is just fine...because we made the choice to do it ourself and save money. But along with siding comes other things that you have to improve on. We have to have a new sliding door and a new door that goes from the garage to the patio. So we spent ALL day and I do mean ALL day at Lowe's and Home Depot. Both items were purchased. Our sliding door is a 5 foot door, we guess what is standard door these days? 6 foot! So, a 5 foot door has to be "special ordered", it is $500-600 MORE to have to do this. SOOOOO... we have decided to purchase the standard 6 foot door and cut a foot to make it fit. Scary! But my honey thinks he can do it.
Sunday: No pictures to post because all the pictures that I took have other families in it. We had a few hours of lake time. Then had a "fish fry" at a friends. We had a great time...kids/adults played badmitton. Did the fish fry kinda as a "farewell" to all the boys leaving for college! Sniff sniff! :(
Had a major mixture of fish going on that some of the boys had caught....catfish, bass, croppie, and even some Red Snapper all the way from Destin, FL. It was all good! We have such a great circle of friends.

Busy Day w/boys

Today was Michael's day off from work. Started off with a follow up visit to the doctor's office. He has had a swollen lymph node due to an infection from a wart on his knee that had staph. He is fine. Then we went and played on the lake...just me and the boys and some friends (and the girlfriend)....had a nice day with my boys. Had to come off the lake early since Jacob had baseball practice. Days won't be spent like this in a couple of weeks!

What we did today

Since the weather was yucky today...Jacob and I took off and went to Springfield. On a mission for a couple of things. FIRST, we took care of some lunch business! RED LOBSTER! A good friend gave us TWO $25 gift cards to Red Lobster...so Jacob and I took care of one of them today. He had snow crab and didn't have any trouble eating all of it. Had to go to JC Penney's to get new sheets for our bed and find Michael twin XL for his dorm bed. Who knew he needed XL sheets for his dorm bed? Bought him a comforter also..but he didn't like it and doesn't want a comforter.

YUM-O!
Shower Caddy A

Shower Caddy B.
On the hunt for a shower caddy for Michael to have in the dorm. Guess which one everyone liked? Shower Caddy B. I liked A. Guess I'll keep it for camping. B Caddy is kind neat and different...it has tiny holes in the bottom to drain the water. He said he could just carry a Wal Mart sack to the shower! Michael leaves August 16 for college! Still don't wanna talk about it!

Jacob did his own shopping today. He had some money to spend. He has been mowing and has saved some money. He bought all of these shirts today with his own money. He wanted a $48 bottle of cologne, but decided against it. Makes all the difference in the world when it is THEIR money! I didn't kick in any and help out today.......I will before school starts though.

Sunday

Play day on the lake today. The weather has been amazing here this weekend. We hung out with friends, tubed, and cooked out.

I snapped this of the two of us while the boat was moving...I love the background. It doesn't even look real.
Jacob enjoying his day of tubing.
Our own personal chauffeur. He takes good care of us on the lake.

Friday Night Baseball

We traveled to Bakersfield, MO tonight for our travel team baseball games. (We played two games). The weather was P E R F E C T!! I was wrapped up in a towel the last game trying to keep warm...if I'm cold...you know its cool outside. The PERFECT weather for baseball. The games ... well they did NOT go so well! We lost BOTH games...by a bunch of points! We did not play well at all. Jacob played all over the field tonight....pitcher, second base, third base...had a couple of good hits.

Up to bat

I love this picture through the fence.

Random Thursday...

Today started out as a yucky day. It was Michael's day off from work. Took Jacob for his allergy shot this morning, then he went to the batting cages. Weather finally cleared up around 4:00 and the boys got in the pool. I went to scrapbooking class tonight (a beach page...love it)...and Jacob had baseball practice this evening until it started raining. Michael trying out his new "diving" stuff.
Jacob

He did some work on his corvette...didn't last long because of the humidity.

Boys think they HAVE to have a fresh pan of brownies EVERYday! Today Jacob made them all by himself. He decided this was not an easy task!ha

One happy kid

This boy was so happy today. He is going to be taking "dive lessons" to become a certified scubba diver. He will start this in a couple of weeks with 4 of his other friends. He ordered a fin, mask and snorkel. They came in today and he was happy happy happy. This could get expensive. He already has his Christmas list going on...

Casual ride on the tube...no worries...

We are getting into some wakes now...getting ready to get rough...
HELP!
Roger lounging on the tube and sleeping...

Swimming in the lake... (we had to play without Michael..he was working)

And Jacob makes one of these EVERYday...a root beer float....yuck...I hate root beer.

I'm Back...

WOW! How busy we have been since we returned from California last Monday night. Our flights to and from California were great (and I'm NOT a big airplane fan). We have been on GO ever since we got home. Came home to jet lag, tons of laundry, grocery shopping, doctor appointments, LAKE time with the girls, and the list goes on and on. Michael came home to having to go to work early the next morning, and has not had a break since.

California trip: It was AM A Z I N G! The weather was perfect. NO humidity. I could live there. The Arkansas folks were complaining about being cold...nope NOT me! Following are pictures in random order! We had a very busy six days on our FBLA trip...but between the FBLA meetings, testing, and functions, we were able to get some sight seeing in. Even got in on the death of Michael Jackson hoop la! We did Disneyland, (rode Tower of Terror 3 times....my favorite ride), Knott's Berry Farm, Beach tour (saw Huntington, Newport and Laguna beach), and a tour of the city.
Michael did NOT place in the top 10 in his personal finance test. :( We were sad about this but so excited that he was able to compete at a national level. Congratulations son! I am proud of you and enjoyed our time together!

Michael and his mom before the award ceremony.

Michael Jackson's star ..not a great picture, but with all the people was happy to get this.

Tribute to Michael Jackson on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Laguna beach...gorgeous beach! (But I like Florida beaches better!)

Eating at Joes' Crab Shack! LOVE that place!

California palm trees!
Laguna beach.

Notice the HOLLYWOOD sign behind him. Little disappointed not a better shot of the sign.

Disneyland ferris wheel..pretty sweet ride.

Newport beach.

The best cheeseburger from The Cheesecake Factory! He loves that place!

Bench used in the Forrest Gump movie! Can't wait to see that movie again. I'm on the hunt for it.

Our plane out of Fayetteville.

Clouds out of the plane. Wish I could float on them.
Hope the pictures weren't too boring. I only took 344 pictures! Aren't you glad I didn't post alot more! Hope everyone's 4th was good. We had alot of family time on the lake. Bought a new tube, so got good use out of that. Also had girls night out on the 3rd...dinner at the 178 Club and then to the movie to see The Proposal. I saw it while in California also..........it is adorable!!!!
