District Track & Field

Jacob had a track and field event today at Mtn. View. It was the district meet. This is a new thing for us. Jacob absoultely loves it. We didn't do so well, but we are getting there. Our 7th grade boys/girls are competing against 9th graders!
Doing the shot put. He threw 31 feet and 7 inches. NOT bad!
The long jump...12 feet and 4 inches...
Relay race..the 4x4...finished 5th.
Tonight was the end of track season. It's been great experience and good excercise!

Easter Time....

Yes, my 19 year old son and 13 year old son colored Easter eggs!

A PINK egg!
Easter bunny even made a stop! You are never too old to get an Easter basket. My boys look forward to this...

My folks came up Sunday for Easter dinner and to watch the boys "hunt" eggs. We had a wonderful meal...steak, veggies, purple hull peas, baked potato, OR cheesy potatoes (whichever you wanted), cole slaw, green bean casserole, rolls, and some "Honey Baked" ham. Dessert...stripe delight, strawberry cobbler, and strawberry shortcake. ALOT of food for 6 folks!
After lunch we hid eggs....some eggs had candy, and some had money. Roger and my mom hid most of the eggs.

Michael is very SERIOUS about finding his eggs!
You never know where you'll find an egg!
Michael and all his "goodies"....
Jacob and all his "goodies"...
After the egg hunt, it has become a tradition to use the hard boiled eggs as balls and splatter them with a bat.
It was a good day...glad my boys will still do the egg hunt! I pay a "high" price for that....

Talent Show

The middle school Cake/Pie Auction/Talent Show was Thursday night. Jacob and crew did 2 skits, PLUS closed the show out as the Black Eyed Peas.
What an amazing job these kids did with the skits.
They did 2 Ray Stevens songs/skits.... "The Pirate Song"... Jacob was the "happy" pirate and did a lot of singing/dancing....

The other skit was "It's Me Again Margaret"...It was hilarious...Jacob played a detective....
Then they closed the talent show with the Black Eyed Peas song "I've Got a Feelin"...the kids danced ...

Our own Black Eyed Pea..... it was GREAT!!!

Random Happenings..

We have had two birthdays this month. Roger's was first. I didn't get any pictures. We celebrated his birthday dinner at the Landing in Branson at a steak house. It was really good!
Then Michael celebrated his birthday the following week. Can you believe my baby is 19 years old????? His birthday was on a Wednesday night, so after work we traveled to Fayetteville to have a birthday dinner with him. He got to pick where he wanted to eat.
Happy Birthday to YOU! LOVE LOVE LOVE you!
Showing the brother some love.
Daddy and momma with the birthday boy.
We ate at HUGO's. It was a burger joint....and it was very very good!

On Monday night.....Jacob had a track and field match in Mtn. Home. I know NOTHING about track and field! We left the meet at 9:30 pm! COLD, TIRED and HUNGRY! Jacob competed in several meter races, shot put, and discus throw. Didn't do very well, but still very proud of him. He was going up against 9th graders who were alot bigger than him and more experienced. But he still had a good time and that's what it is all about.

Then during all of our "free" time (ha) we have been practicing skits for the middle school talent show tomorrow night....
This is how Jacob looks for one of his characters.....

More to follow on the talent show....................................wish us luck!

Been Awhile....

I know its been awhile! Just been busy with life and these two yah-hoos.
We LOVE it when Michael comes in for the weekend! He usually only comes home every other weekend. We haven't made the trip to Fayetteville on a weekend that he hasn't been home since Christmas. Look at ME go!
I'm trying.....This has been the biggest "life" change for me!
My boys LOVE to still play board games. They will play anytime!
(I NEVER win)
My mom came for awhile to see Michael while he was home Valentine's weekend.
The boys opening their cards/money from Grandma/Grandpa Leonard. (By the way...thank you...I know they didn't send a card!)
We got to see a dear dear friend "Lisa" the month of February. We missed seeing "Dutch" her husband. Lisa's parents live near us and she flew in from Arizona to see them. We had lost touch with them over the years...but reconnected through "facebook"...so so so thankful for that. I got to see Lisa two different nights and it was so great!
Jacob had a quiz bowl tournament last week. The JR. high quiz bowl team consists of 7-9 graders. We went to Bauxite--other side of Little Rock to the state tournament. I must say it was O-MAZING. So proud of this team. His team placed 2nd overall. They played 3 morning games to determine bracket placement. We lost ALL 3 morning games. We were bottom seed. So our next play was against the #1 team..we won...played again...we won..played again...we ended up 2nd! I know...amazing!
Basketball season is over for us--we didn't finish the best. No spring soccer for us. Baseball is going to be starting up and Jacob is gearing up for it in full force! Shoes and helmets have been ordered. Gloves and baseball bag have been bought. On the look out to purchase a new glove!
I will try and do better with more posts Aunt Mel! xoxo

Building Snowmen...

We didn't have school today...daddy went back to work...Michael back to college...so it was just me and Jacob. We decided we would build a snowman...we have NEVER done this without the other two...I'd say we did a pretty good job! We had a good day.
