Snow + Another Scrapbook Class

We woke up to a little snow fall this morning. Just NOT enough to sled or build a snowman! :(
I really do wish it would snow a foot!

I went to a scrapbooking class this morning at SCRAPBOOK ADDICTION. These are my pages that I did. This is the first time that I've ever gone to a Saturday class...we usually have 100 different things going on and I'm not ever able to go, but we had no where to be today. It was nice.
We are adding a new member to our family tomorrow....her name is Marley! Check back to see pictures of her tomorrow...

New Soccer Shoes = Soccer Game!!

On Friday Jacob got new socccer shoes. Jacob had ordered them a week earlier at the Lockeroom. His other soccer shoes were worn out. Now, we are ready for some soccer!

On Saturday we went to Maumelle to play in a Jamboree. The kids played 4 half games. The weather was NASTY for the first game. It was misting rain, and COLD! We won the game!
Jacob played goalie the last game. He played forward the other games. We lost the last three games. On the third game, it was 0-0, and the other team scored right as the whistle blew! It wasn't raining the last three games. We enjoyed our day of soccer.

For lunch we went to Firehouse Subs. We have fallen in love with this place. It is steamed subs. The majority of the soccer kids and parents ate there. I took a "team" picture with them all in the fire hats, but I won't post the picture because I don't know how other parents would feel about that.
Michael left Friday for Russellville for a church youth rally. He made it home today. We missed him this weekend.
Just finished watching the NASCAR race...my man, Jeff Gordon finished second! Sure do wish that he could win him a race!!

Random things....

Things are getting ready to get crazy around here! Jacob started pee wee basketball practice this week. We don't have a schedule yet, but rumor has it that we have ALOT of games scheduled. I LOVE BASEKTBALL!!

We are going to Little Rock on Saturday to play 4 soccer games with Jacob's team. Each game will only be a half. We love our soccer and have great kids and parents that travel. We sure aren't looking forward to the 60% chance of rain they are calling for or the 43 degrees!!!! It wouldn't be soccer unless we had a weather issue!

Soooooooooooo...I go to Dollar General Store today to get some "Thinking of You" and "Birthday" cards...what the heck do I see??? Graduation cards! I felt like I had been slapped in the face! Come on...it's just February...do you have to rub it in my face this early!? I didn't like seeing those cards! But guess what? I bought one! I'm doing some scrapbooking stuff and I liked the Gold shiny one that is showing in the picture that says CLASS of 2009.

IT'S OFFICIAL!

BEWARE: This blog is all about Michael! It's official...I had my first melt down today over his college stuff! I feel like I have really kept it together pretty good the last few months. But I had a little difficulty today! We had anxiously been waiting to see if he would receive the email all day long...we knew today was the day that the finalists would be contacted. He received his email around 4:00. I cried as I read his email that was sent to him from the Univerisity of Arkansas. About a month ago, Michael applied for "The Fellowship Scholarship". You have to be selected to be a finalist to go for an interview for this scholarship. Today he received his email from them stating that he had been selected as a finalist. This fellowship provides $12,500 each year and can be combined with other scholarships to the cost of attendance. They guarantee that tuition fees and room and board, and meals will be covered for four years. How awesome is that? Michael will go for this interview on March 9.

Reading the email.
I have so many mixed emotions. Of course, I am very proud of him and want him to be happy in his college choice, but this is a hard journey. Roger had the nerve to call me a BIG BABY today! I know in the end all will be just fine.

Shrek & Fiona

We had a Valentine's Party at church on Saturday night. It was "famous couples" night. Roger and I went as Shrek and Fiona. There were alot of famous couples....Thing 1 and Thing 2, Raggedy Ann and Andy, Bill and Hillary, Scarlet and Rhett, Rocky and Adrian, Fred and Wilma and more. We had prime rib, baked potato, salad and dessert. It was delicious! Then they did some karaoke. NO, I did NOT karaoke. Roger---YES he did! He didn't karaoke alone, but I decided not to post pictures of others...they might not appreciate it!

Roger doing his "karaoke"! You would be surprised at some who came out the shell to karaoke!

After church today, Michael decided that he was going to fix some OKRA! We all love okra, but man is it ever hard for me to cook! I usually just buy the frozen okra and deep fry it and that seems to work out pretty good. My mom can skillet fry it, but I can't. So Michael goes with me to the grocery store yesterday and picks up some fresh okra. I told him I couldn't cook it..he said he would! OK...go for it! So, he washes/dries it, cuts it, shakes it in corn meal, salt and pepper and is ready to go!

Looking good! I don't think it turned out so hot! He didn't offer me any and I didn't see him eating it! Guess we will stick with the frozen okra. At least he attempted to cook it. Don't understand why it is so hard to cook okra!
We watched the Daytona 500 today, but had to leave in the middle of it to go to "life group". We always enjoy our "life group" and get alot out of it. We are blessed to be in the group that we are in...they are awesome!
Well I made a post with pictures....I am so proud of myself! Hope that all have a good week.

Recap of the week....

Well it's been a pretty busy week. We managed to survive the ice storm! We were without power from Tuesday until Friday...so not as bad as some other folks. We didn't have school on Monday. Started an hour later on Tuesday and Wednesday. Jacob and I didn't go to school on Tuesday, because he had an allergy appointment in Conway. Friday night was "Senior Night".
All the "lasts" are beginning to happen with my senior boy. This is all so bittersweet. Anyone that knows me, knows that I am NOT ready for my oldest son to graduate and leave home! I don't hold back any on that one! Yes, I realize this is HOW it is suppose to be, but it so hard for me to give him his wings and "let him fly". When you bring home that sweet baby, you don't think how 18 years will fly by. We moved to Flippin 16 years ago, NOT knowing ONE single person.....we have truly been blessed with a wonderful circle of friends!
We helped the G/T teacher with JR. HIGH QUIZ BOWL today at our school. We are exhausted, but so glad to be able to help her out...we had a blast. Such a great group of other kids from other schools. They all represented their schools well.
